Currently, BRAG is involved in a broad array of activities, linked closely to the findings of the Rural Strategy and the suggestions of the aligned Action Plan. These are listed below, and illustrate the continued evolution of the group as it seeks to reinforce its position as the independent voice for the county's rural communities.

  • Greater independence - BRAG is committed to being the independent voice for rural Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. As such, the group is assessing how this can best be established with the potential to develop a strong association with Buckinghamshire Community Action - the county's rural community council.
  • Research - the Rural Strategy highlighted the need for a greater level of research into rural issues. BRAG is working to address this by commissioning specific pieces of research to better highlight the needs and opportunities in rural communities. Please click on the links for copies of BRAG's rural research documents.
  • Lobbying, influencing and consultation - these are all key agendas for BRAG and the group continues to be proactive in these areas.  BRAG maintains its strategic links to local and regional government and seeks to ensure the 'rural voice' is heard. BRAG also works to 'rural proof' relevant policies and strategies as part of the consultation process.
  • The 2009 Rural Conference - BRAG is pleased to announce that the 4th annual BRAG Conference will take place on Monday 29th November 2010, venue and time is yet to be confirmed. The focus this year will be on the rural economy and the ways by which we can ensure its continued vitality and prosperity. Confirmed speakers are dR Stuart Burgess (the Prime Minister's 'Rural Advocate'), as well as the Rt Revd John Pritchard. The conference will feature a host of local speakers, a Q&A session and a buffet lunch.   Additionally, this event will also link closely with the LEADER programme with the annual AVMK LAG meeting taking place during the afternoon.
    •  Increasing engagement and prominence - BRAG is continuing to engage with new rural partners and stakeholders and would welcome any individuals or organisations who wish to become more involved. BRAG is also working hard to market its presence and objectives, through a variety of means, and by appearing at events such as the Bucks County Show.
